Zz’s Clam Bar NYC Review

Rather than writing a NYT article about my entire experience at Zz’s, I decided to sum up my experience by writing small sections about what you can expect, what I experienced, and my overall take. Because at the end of the day, all we want is to find a place with great food that fits our personal dining needs so here we go:

What You Can Expect: If darkness scares you, this place isn’t for you. Zz’s is a very dim-lit place that’s great if you’re trying to go for a romantic vibe yet it might not be as romantic when you realize the table next to you is only inches away.

What I Experienced: Despite Carbone’s terrible service, Zz’s Clam Bar is nothing to that nature. The gentleman at the door was nice along with our server for the evening. From the start of our meal to the end of our meal, all our dishes from carpaccio to tartare were quite tasty and most importantly fresh.

Overall Rating: Zz’s is definitely a place you’d go for a special occasion because the price reflects a quality over quantity experience when it comes to food which leaves you craving for a second dinner due to the emptiness a carpaccio can leave you if you’re sharing every dish. It’s nice to know that despite offering a menu for visitors to look online at that their menu can change daily based on market availability which can be quite annoying based on cravings but great if you’re looking for freshness.
