Ichiran NY - Review
Ichiran has opened their third shop in New York City but this time in the general area I usually travel to that it only made sense I had to pop by for a visit.
Ichiran has been known for their premium-priced bowl of Tonkotsu ramen and despite having experienced their bowl in Hong Kong, I decided to see if their quality control can carry abroad.
I don’t know if it’s about consciously knowing that this bowl is overpriced ($18 vs $11.60 ($91 HKD)) that it makes it hard to give this bowl a fair rating but long story short, for the price it asks at their NYC shops is too steep for the amount of ramen shops one could travel to instead around the city. But despite the price it asks for this bowl of Tonkotsu ramen, it’s a bowl that brings tons of memories my dad and I have dining at Ichiran HK at midnight that I wouldn’t necessarily knock Ichiran off my list of ramen places to revisit because their matcha pudding is quite delicious to make any meal feel complete. Also a side-note, as much as they’re known for their solo dining booths, at their New York locations, they’ve made their dividers retractable which allows even a party of four be able to chat away side by side.
